Connect with residents of Dublin, Ohio

Believe it or not, Dublin Methodist Hospital will celebrate its one-year anniversary next month. Brittiny is working on a feature story for next week's Villager. The photos are being taken Monday. It'll be the centerpiece of our Jan. 1 edition. I've had some co-workers go there and they've said nothing but good things.

Andy, I am a big fan of Dublin Methodist Hospital for both it's technology and the way they emphasize the influence of a good environment on the healing process. I have been there 3 times and all for "healthy reasons", meaning meetings, not doctor visits.

I hope you will include in your article the welcoming accessibility of the waterfall cafe in the main lobby. There is free wireless internet available which makes it a great place for small, informal meetups. The main request is that cafe users park in the further rows to leave the closer spots for patients and their visitors.

    Dublin history lesson

Peter and Benjamin Sells came to the area around 1801 from Huntington County, Pa., to buy land. Old Dublin was first platted in 1810 by their brother, John. Surveyor John Shields named the town after his birthplace in Ireland. The town developed the usual assortment of mills, shops and churches, with settlers coexisting peacefully with Wyandot Indians, who camped on Indian Run. The town gained notoriety in the mid-19th century, when a surplus of taverns and rowdy Civil War veterans gave the village a tough reputation. Columbus' growth and the construction of I-270 made expansion inevitable. Dublin achieved city status in 1987.
