Hi Darlene,
Go to www.nwf.org/certify - you can do it online and get the sign to display (information like a tiny kiosk) either there or after you get your official certificate. If you prefer to pay by check, there is an application you can download and snail-mail in with a check. Another good site to learn about the certification is www.nwf.org/gardenforwildlife
Congratulations for taking the step! It will educate others.
Let's get together - give me a call. - Toni

Oh, by the way, I meant to mention that our New Year's Day birding trip was very fruitful. We went to the Hocking Hills area and go two new life birds (Pine Siskin and White-winged Crossbill). An excellent day!

What a small world. I know both Mime Migilore and Christine Nardeccia quite well although I never realized that Christine and I shared a passion for birding.

We live somewhat south of Dublin (around the sawmill and bethel road area so we're not that close to many of the parks. Having said that, we would be more than willing to help if we can. Let me know which areas you need help and I'll talk it over with my better half.

Yes, I've been birding for 20+ years now and enjoy it very much. As a matter of fact my better half and I traditionally do our first local birding trip on New Year's day.

unfortunately, we can't help with the CBC this year becasue of other commitments, but please keep us in mind for future counts.

Texas is a fabulous place for birding. When we went many years ago we added over 60 new species to our life list. What a trip! It sounds like you enjoyed it.

I'm sure our paths will cross again either here (virtually) or on a birding trail somewhere (literally). Stay well and Happy New Year!

Hi Darlene,

I believe you and I might have met while watching the Chimney Swifts behind the 1919 buliding a year or so ago. I hope to see the swifts in greater numbers than there were in 2008 in the future.

Happy New Year!

Jeff

    Dublin history lesson

Peter and Benjamin Sells came to the area around 1801 from Huntington County, Pa., to buy land. Old Dublin was first platted in 1810 by their brother, John. Surveyor John Shields named the town after his birthplace in Ireland. The town developed the usual assortment of mills, shops and churches, with settlers coexisting peacefully with Wyandot Indians, who camped on Indian Run. The town gained notoriety in the mid-19th century, when a surplus of taverns and rowdy Civil War veterans gave the village a tough reputation. Columbus' growth and the construction of I-270 made expansion inevitable. Dublin achieved city status in 1987.
