You might be aware that the Dublin AM Rotary sponsored a Veterans Flight to Washington, D.C., on Sunday, Nov. 1. Rotary members who also are pilots donated their planes to fly seven veterans to D.C. to visit veterans memorials. ThisWeek photographer Lorrie Cecil made the trip as well and got great pictures for the Dublin Villager (front page and inside photo page) and a multimedia presentation on ThisWeekNews.com. I'm pasting a link to our video player below. To watch Lorrie's presentation, clic… Continue

I'm not sure everyone saw it, but I wanted to point out the fact that two Historic Dublin restaurants made the top 10 sandwich list recently penned by our food critic. Dublin Village Tavern's grilled bologna sandwich and Mr. Biddies roast beef sandwich from Biddies. I've been to the Dublin Village Tavern, but never tried the grilled bologna. I've never been to Biddies, but after… Continue

I was stumbling around on the internet, like always, and found The Ohio Academy. I am fairly new to the Dublin/Columbus area and didn't know that there was a cosmetology school in the area. I just though I would let everyone know that they have upcoming cosmetology classes offered October 20th, November 16th, and December 8th.
There is also a fashion show they are having called "The Men’s Show" a unique trade show designed for men, yet equally entertaining for women. The show will feature inter… Continue

September 11 is becoming a "National Day of Service" around the country, with folks choosing to give to others or a cause and come together just to do something outside… Continue
I've floated in and out of relationships all over the country for my entire life. None seeming to be more or less important than the other, but each uniquely impactful in my development as a human being....the problem is, I always seem to appreciate and understand each experience far beyond it's occurrence.
That brings me to Dublin, a community I’ve put my energies into supporting over the last few years. Many great people working hard to make a difference, most doing so just under all of our r… Continue

Our Senior Services program and Volunteer Services program have joined forces for a "Senior Buddy Program." Started about a year ago, it pairs up an adult with a senior citizen who is a few years away from being able to live independently, and is in need of a weekly check in, a ride to the doctor or pharmacy every now and then, and most importantly-a buddy.… Continue

Who doesn't like to eat fresh produce? The Dublin Farmers Market is about to arrive at Dublin Community Church, 81 W. Bridge St. TehKu Tea Company owner Inggrie Merriman, who has been trying to establish a farmers market in Dublin for two years, said: "We want a variety of dairy, honey, fresh produce. We're trying to get baked goods and meat. We want to try to get a good variety so people can do their shopping mid-week at the farmers market." Sounds good to me, except for the dairy (lactose into… Continue

Peter and Benjamin Sells came to the area around 1801 from Huntington County, Pa., to buy land. Old Dublin was first platted in 1810 by their brother, John. Surveyor John Shields named the town after his birthplace in Ireland. The town developed the usual assortment of mills, shops and churches, with settlers coexisting peacefully with Wyandot Indians, who camped on Indian Run. The town gained notoriety in the mid-19th century, when a surplus of taverns and rowdy Civil War veterans gave the village a tough reputation. Columbus' growth and the construction of I-270 made expansion inevitable. Dublin achieved city status in 1987. Source: Columbus Dispatch library research
